017 1920s James E Cashman home 109 Summit Street

This building, located at 109 Summit Street Burlington, VT, was the home of James E. Cashman and family from about 1923 to 1935. It is now part of the campus of Champlain College. The original owner, Oliver O. Presbry, who built the house in 1895, lived there until 1921. The house was then occupied by various families, most notably James Cashman, Burlington City Engineer. In the late 1930's the house was converted to apartments. Champlain College purchased the house in 1994, converted it to student housing and named it Schillhammer Hall.
