My name is Juliana and I am the daughter of Domenico Solimando, brother of Michael, Nicholas and Eugenia.Vivo in Potenza (Italy), but often I go to Armento, country of origin of the family. Lucantonio grandfather's father's name was Nicholas and his mother I Rachele. No more precise account of the family but to document and comunicarate . I would like to learn about the American branch of family .Cordial greetings
Dear Donna, I have received and read with great pleasure your e-mail. So looking for more precise information on the history of the family that Solimando gladly send you as soon as possibile. Cordiali greetings
Hello Donna, Here is the news about the family Solimando. Lucantonio grandfather's mother's name was Eugenia Viola and Rachel Di Biase however, was his wife. Know for a fact that immediately after the wedding, grandparents emigrated to America where they gave birth to the first three children: Nicholas, Michael and Vincent. Soon after the birth of the latter grandparents returned to Italy in 1907 where my father was born in 1909 or 1910 Dominic and the youngest Eugenia. . Immediately after the grandfather returned to the U.S. and called the two oldest children before the outbreak of the 1st World War between 1915 and 16. Vincenzo and Domenico were sent for study and only in 1927, the year of premature death, typhoid, grandmother of Rachel's daughter Eugenia was placed in college studying. Grandfather's intention was to have had all of their children, but with the advent of Fascism, he could recall only his son Vincenzo, who was born in USA, had American citizenship and Eugenia because she could get still a minor. My father Domenico, age could not leave for the border closure and the subsequent outbreak of the 2nd World War. He graduated in chemistry in Milan where he worked, married Anna Bartoli, I was born, Giuliana, Lucantonio in 1941 and in 1943. Following a serious illness which cost my father amputation of a lower limb, we moved in Armento, the birthplace of Solimando family, and there he taught math and science at the local high school until his death nel1975. My brother and I studied and there laureammo in Naples: I Lucantonio in letters and in Pharmacy. I became a teacher of Italian, Latin, history and geography in a middle school of Potenza, Basilicata town where I live with my husband still Giuseppantonio Ierardi he armentese source.
I have three children: Marianna, Michael and Valeria. The two girls, the first and the second law graduate in political science, working and living in Perugia (Umbria), the male doctor, lives and works in Calabria.
My brother Lucantonio was married twice, his first marriage were born three sons, Domenico, Vincenzo and Annamaria.
My son Michael has a child: Joseph Alexander, my niece Annamaria has two children: Elena and Nicholas.
As for Eugenie, she married a journalist of Sicilian origin: Filippo Cordaro and, after some time, he went to live in Puerto Rico, where her husband taught at the University local. I met two children: Joanna and Vincent after death of their mother, but they've lost contact. I do not know anything about Vincent, Joanna probably should have moved to Spain.
If I get more detailed information of our ancestors will let you know. In the meantime, I'd like to hear from Mike Junior, whom I met during a trip to Italy and my cousins Rachel and Concetta.
The person with whom he had contact Jay is not a relative but a neighbor named Michele Canosa.
I'd love to be able to contact Jay, who is a son, I think, my cousin Rachel in Video Chat, but unfortunately I do not know the English language and it would be very difficult to communicate.
I have some family photographs. If I can affect attach: let me know. Proud of these contacts, I look forward to warmly greet news
Giuliana
