      LOS ANGELES - " John Lee Ierardi, 67, died Dec. 28 in Los Angeles after a brief illness.

      Mr. Ierardi had a long career in music promotion. He started his career through the co-op program at Northeastern University, working in the record department at Jordan Marsh. He then worked for many record labels at Mutual Distributors in Roxbury. Liberty/United Artists transferred him in 1969 to Los Angeles, where he became a production manager for several years and founded his own company, Hut Sut Music.
      In the 1980s, he produced a collection of MGM musicals. He later produced CDs with new recording artists, helping them launch careers as singers and pianists. He was an avid moviegoer and loved the beach, convertibles, crossword puzzles and cooking. Survivors include his mother, Theresa (Ierardi) Bolino of West Roxbury; a sister, Anne Ierardi of Yarmouthport; and a brother, Anthony Ierardi of Milton. A memorial Mass will be at 9 a.m. tomorrow at St. Susanna Parish, 262 Needham St., Dedham. Private burial is in St. Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury. Kennedy, recorded on October 22, 1962 and issued by Cadence Records. It was honored as the largest and fastest selling record in the history of the record industry selling at more than a million copies per week for the first six and one-half weeks in distribution.
